Most 68HC12 textbooks that have been published were written for the old 68HC12 family, and not for the new HCS12 microcontroller. There are only 4 new HCS12 textbooks available now. Although all four authors used our DRAGON12 or MiniDRAGON+ board for testing many of their sample programs, these sample programs should work for other HCS12 boards with some add-on boards to duplicate I/O peripherals on our DRAGON12 or MiniDRAGON+ board.
Professor Tom Almy's new HCS12 text book on a CD Designing with
Microcontrollers The 68HCS12 at http://www.hcs12text.com/
Professor Almy was one of a very few professors who discovered the value of
the DRAGON12 board very early on, and immediately implemented it in his class at
Oregon Institution of Technology in January 2003. Since then, many
professors have followed his path and
made the DRAGON12 board one of the most popular HCS12 trainers available. His book
was the first complete HCS12 book for the DRAGON12 board ever published and it
includes many sample programs that have been fully tested on the DRAGON12 board.
It is very affordable and also comes with his new HCS12 simulator. Quite a few
universities and many individuals have been using this CD textbook.
Professor Almy has been using our DRAGON12 board in his class at Oregon
Institute of Technology since Jan. 2003. This book also will be a great choice
for our MiniDRAGON+ board as well.
Professor Steve Barrett's new HCS12 book Embedded
Systems Design and Applications with the 68HC12 and HCS12
Professor Barrett was one of a handful of professors who discovered the value of
the MiniDRAGON+ board very early on and has implemented it into his class at
the University of Wyoming beginning in 2003. Since then, many professors have followed his path and
made the MiniDRAGON+ board one of the most popular HCS12 trainers
available. His book uses the MiniDRAGON+ board as an evaluation board and many
sample programs can run on the MiniDRAGON+ board.
Professor Barrett has been using our MiniDRAGON+ board in his classes and senior designs since
2003 at University of Wyoming.
Professor Richard Haskell's
new HCS12 book Learning
By Example Using C: Programming the HCS12 Microcontroller Using
CodeWarrior at http://www.lbebooks.com/index.htm
In his new book you will learn to write programs in C and compile them to
HCS12 code using Code Warrior. The CodeWarrior itself can be daunting, but
his book will make it easy for you to learn what you need to quickly get
your microcontroller to work. His book does it by providing you with an
LBE_DP256 stationary project from which you can easily build your own particular
application.
His books use our Dragon12-Plus and MiniDRAGON-Plus2 as evaluation boards.
Many
sample programs in the books will run on these boards.
Professor Han-Way Huang's new HCS12 book The HCS12/9S12: An
Introduction to Software and Hardware interfacing
Besides his new HCS12 textbook Professor Huang has written
textbooks for different microcontrollers, such as 8051 and PIC microcontrollers.
His new HCS12 book provides a total solution for learning and teaching embedded
system design based on the Motorola HCS12 microcontroller. His new
textbook certainly guarantees that the many more professors will choose the
DRAGON12 board as their HCS12 trainers in classrooms and DRAGON12 trainer has become one of the
most popular HCS12 trainers in universities around the world. Almost all of
the programs in his book (on back-of-book CD) can be downloaded into the DRAGON12 board and can be run
without any modification.
