*****  How-to-order information is shown at the end of home page *****

The picture above shows the Dragon12TM board without the solderless breadboard.

There are an RS232 interface IC, one CAN interface circuit, an I2C based 24LC16 EEPROM and a dual 10-bit DAC with SPI interface under the LCD display module.

The Application Circuit Corner at the upper right area of the PC board provides the footprints for a DS1302 Real Time Clock with battery backup, a DS1620 Digital Thermometer and Thermostat, a 12V DPDT relay and a L293D motor driver. The components on the picture are for illustration purpose only and are not included in the price. We provide the schematic diagram, but do not carry the parts for the circuits. We will provide a kit for each circuit in the near future.

The RF transceiver and two whip antennas are for illustration purpose only and are not included in the price. We will provide a kit in the near future.

Dragon12 MC68HCS12 EVB

This picture shows the Dragon12TM board with the solderless breadboard. All MC9S12DP256's 91 I/O female and male headers are placed around the breadboard for easy access. As it can be seen, the crystal of the MC9S12DP256 is not covered over by the breadboard.

The 130-pad wire wrap area is good for some simple interface circuits or a 26 pin header, so you can customize 24 I/O lines to control your other application circuit boards.

The lower right corner is the jumper-freeTM mode-switching circuit with LED mode indicators. Use the 2 position DIP switch to select the mode and one of LEDs will be lit to indicate the selected mode. When you learn the MC9S12 DP256 programming, you will have to change operating modes quite often, so this is a very useful feature.

EVBplus HCS12 board (DRAGON12TM)

Our new Dragon12TM HCS12 board based on the new MC9S12DP256 is very similar to our EVBplus2 68HC11 board in terms of I/O features. All add-on I/O circuits make our EVBplus2 68HC11 board an advanced, but easy-to-use 68HC11 trainer for students or a convenient prototype platform for engineers, they will do the same to our DRAGON12 board.

Dragon12 features:

Wytec is a long-established provider of Z8 and 68HC11 in-circuit emulators to industry since 1987. We have also provided DSP-based digital voice/data multiplexers (MicroSamTM), addressable network controllers (OdysseyTM) and high security data encryption devices (MicroDadTM) for Satellite communication since 1991. Today, hundreds of Wytec devices provide critical data transmission for the financial market around the world in real time. We are an engineering firm, not a marketing guru. We have recently expanded our products into development boards and SBCs for different microcontrollers. We make quality products at very low cost and pass the savings directly to our customers.

The 68HC11 has been around for many years and is still very strong in the educational market. Quite a few universities and colleges are replacing their old BUFFALO monitor based boards with our FOX11 and EVBplus2 boards. We still believe that the 68HC11 is the best microcontroller for students to learn his/her first microcontroller and build his/her foundation of microcontroller expertise. In a short semester period, a beginner will learn microcontroller technology and programming from the 68HC11 more than from the 68HC12. Recently we have actually seen some universities and community colleges just starting to offer their first microcontroller classes with our FOX11 or EVBplus2 boards for the 68HC11.

The old 68HC12 family (such as 68HC812A4 and 68HC912B32) is slow and is not much better than the 68HC11 family. The new HCS12 ( STAR12 ) family is well-designed, all flash based, very fast and much superior than many other microcontrollers.

What Do I get for the price of $175.00 / $139 (student price)?
You not only get a lot of software on the CD, but also get a great deal of hardware for the money. We buy parts in volume. If you buy all parts in single quantity, all parts will cost you near $139.00. If you can get this board for $175.00 (For students, the price is $139.00), why bother to make your own? Our board is laid out by the same EE who designed the hardware, so you know the board is not only easy to manufacture, but also follows electrical rules.

For $175.00 you will get everything from the above pictures except the RF transceiver ( both transmitter and receiver modules), two whip antennas, components on the Application Circuit Corner.

Application Circuit Corner provides the footprints for a DS1302 Real Time Clock with battery backup, a DS1620 Digital Thermometer and Thermostat, a 12V DPDT relay and a L293D motor driver. The components on the picture are for the illustration purpose only and are not included in the price. We provide the schematic diagram, but do not carry the parts for the circuits. We will provide a kit for each circuit in the near future.

The solderless breadboard, a CD with software and a 6 foot DB9 RS232 cable are included in the price. If you order it from a country that uses 110V electricity, like US, Canada and Trinidad & Tobago, we will also provide a free AC adapter with the board.
